While inexperienced with women, they share an obsession with sex and tend to chortle and cackle whenever they hear words or phrases that could be even vaguely interpreted as sexual or scatological. They will usually deem their encounters as "cool" if they are associated with heavy metal, violence, sex, destruction, or the macabre. Both lack any empathy or moral scruples even when regarding each other, and have no hesitance to inflict serious physical harm to each other. Beavis and Butt-Head have little to no adult supervision and are barely literate. If they are not at school or out causing mayhem, they're at home watching TV, looking at pornographic magazines, or eating nachos and other junk food.
They attend school at Highland High in a town named Highland, located somewhere in Texas or New Mexico. A second film has also been announced for the streaming service Paramount+. The show's popularity spawned various related media, including the theatrical film Beavis and Butt-Head Do America in 1996. ĭuring its initial run, Beavis and Butt-Head received widespread critical acclaim for its satirical, scathing commentary on society. A second revival consisting of two seasons is scheduled to air on Comedy Central. The series was revived with an eighth season airing on MTV from October 27, 2011, to December 29, 2011, but was cancelled a second time following the season's conclusion. After MTV commissioned a full series around the characters, Beavis and Butt-Head ran for seven seasons from March 8, 1993, to November 28, 1997. The characters originated in Judge's 1992 short film Frog Baseball, which was broadcast by MTV's animation showcase Liquid Television. The series follows the eponymous Beavis and Butt-Head, both voiced by Judge, a pair of teenage slackers characterized by their apathy, lack of intelligence, lowbrow humor, and failure to attract women.
